On July 4, 2016, an agreement was concluded on the basis of the Resolution of the Government of Georgia, according to which “Tkibuli 150” Ltd. will begin the construction of coal-fired thermal power plant in Gardabani. The installed capacity of the facility is 150 - 300 MW.
to the Agreement a number of preparatory works, coordinated with the Ministry for Economy, for the implementation of the project by the Company is already underway. The construction is scheduled to begin on September 30, 2016.
The commencement of the construction of the coal-fired thermal power plant at the alternative location was decided after the company considered the findings of geological and environmental studies. Based on the findings obtained, it has been deemed reasonable to build thermal power plant, the construction of which was originally planned in Tkibuli, in Gardabani municipality. It is important that the new energy facility will operate on the coal extracted in Tkibuli.
“Tkibuli -150” is the subsidiary of ”Georgian Industrial Group”, which was established for the construction, possession and operation of coal-fired thermal power plant. The above agreement with the Government of Georgia was signed on October 16, 2015.
