
On July 4, another business meeting was held at the Ministry of Energy with the initiative of Levan Vepkhvadze, the Chairman of Energy Committee of Business Association of Georgia.
The discussion was about the liberalization of the electricity market, namely about the obligation of those enterprises that are supplied with 35 or more kilovolts of power, to directly register as consumers from May 1, 2018. Also, prospects for business activities and expected changes in the market as a result of deregulation of the power plants up to 40 megawatts from 1 January, 2018 were discussed. Similar meetings were held by Levan Vepkhvadze, chairman of the Energy Association of Business Association for the fourth time. We remind you that Levan Vepkhvadze, who is a member of the Board of Directors of the Georgian Industrial Group, was elected as chairman of the committee in March 2017. At the meeting Irakli Khmaladze, Deputy Minister of Energy of Georgia and Irina Milorava, Chairman of the Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission introduced to the members of the association the amendments made to the Law on "Electricity and Natural Gas" last week. The Ministry expressed its willingness and desire to hold similar meetings with members of the Georgian Business Association periodically to enable the maximum participation of various players of the energy market in the discussion of the current and planned changes.
